34 CFR PART 98—PROTECTION OF PUPIL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

The regulations at 34 CFR Part 98 implementing section 445 of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA)(20 U.S.C. 1232h), commonly referred to as the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA).

Consent and Opt-Out for Surveys on Protected Topics
Schools must obtain prior written parental consent before students are required to participate in surveys concerning protected areas (e.g., political beliefs, mental health, sex behavior, religious practices, income). Use of Information for Marketing or Selling

Administration of Physical Examinations
Parents have the right to opt-out of any non-emergency, invasive physical examination or screening that is not necessary to protect immediate health and safety. 2Not Applicable. The services provided by Studio Source Yearbooks do not involve physical examinations.
Parental Notification and Local Policy Development
Schools must develop policies regarding these rights in consultation with parents and provide parents with notice of these policies and specific activities. 1See Security Statement, Section 3.2
